We're a student-run movement bringing affordable education to rural India and mobilizing college campuses for causes that matter.
Wake Up India Foundation connects college students with meaningful social impact through campaigns, workshops, community service, and volunteer-led initiatives. We also collaborate with the Gurukul School Project, providing students with opportunities to mentor children, support educational activities, and gain hands-on experience in community development.
Suyash H. Varma founded Wake Up India Foundation in 2010 while he was still in college, driven by a simple belief: the future of India won't be built by a few leaders. It will be built by millions of young people who choose to lead. Over the past fifteen years, he has worked at the intersection of education, technology, and social impact. Alongside leading the Foundation, he has built learning solutions in the corporate sector, authored the book Conscious Connectivity: How to Use Social Media Without Losing Your Soul, and writes and speaks on youth leadership, digital behaviour, and the future of learning.
To empower young people to become responsible citizens through leadership, service, and community engagement.
An India where every student believes they have the ability and the responsibility to create positive change.
Everything we do sits under one of these pillars — run entirely by students, for the communities and campuses we serve.

College students gain hands-on experience by volunteering with the Gurukul School Project—mentoring children, conducting workshops, organizing activities, and supporting educational initiatives through internships and service programs.

The Gurukul School Project is an education initiative that Wake Up India Foundation regularly collaborates with. Through volunteer programs, internships, and outreach activities, our student members mentor children, organize workshops, conduct learning sessions, and contribute to meaningful educational experiences in rural communities.
We work directly with college students to run charity drives, fundraisers, and awareness campaigns on issues that matter — mental health, sustainability, gender equity, and more.

"From campus campaigns to national initiatives, WUIF showed me that meaningful change begins when students take responsibility."
"My internship at Gurukul changed my perspective. Teaching those children reminded me that small acts of service can leave a lifelong impact."
Every rupee and every hour is tracked, and every decision starts with the community we're serving — not the other way around.
